Bring the library you already have
Pocket closed in July 2025 and deleted what was left in October. Omnivore was bought and shut. If you exported your library before the lights went out, it is still a file on your computer — and Reservoir reads it.
What comes across
Import is on the Add page on the web, and in Settings on the phone. Choose the file; the links are in your library within seconds.
- A Pocket export (CSV)
- Links, titles, tags, and what you had archived — Pocket’s archive becomes “read” here.
- A bookmarks file (HTML)
- What every browser exports, and what Instapaper and Raindrop write too. Folders become collections.
- A Reservoir backup (JSON)
- Your own export, read back whole — the same path as arriving from somewhere else, not a special one.
- The text, afterwards
- Links arrive immediately and the readable copy of each article is fetched in the background over the following hours. You can close the app.
The awkward questions
I never exported from Pocket. Anything to do?
Not from Pocket itself — Mozilla deleted the data in October 2025. Your browser bookmarks are usually the next best copy, and they import the same way.
Will it duplicate things if I import twice?
No. Saves already in your library are matched and skipped, so importing the same file again is safe.
Does a huge import cost me anything?
No. There is no item cap on any plan, and saving and syncing are never metered.
Can I get back out again?
Yes, and it is one button: an export with your links, notes, tags, collections and the text of every article, as plain JSON with no ids in it. Being easy to leave is the only honest way to ask for a library.
